Flu Season

Well it is here again..flu season. So the question becomes do I get my son the flu shot or the nasal spray? I am looking for any and all advice on the subject!

I got him the shot last year and it hurt him for a few days and right after he had it done for the whole day he couldn't walk because of how bad it hurt. It was not the typical shot..hurts for a minute and then is better. I hate the idea of going through this again!

Then there is the nose spray. I have heard that it stings and is less effective. If this is true I think I will have to go with the shot because when he gets sick this winter I will have to do saline spray which he will never let me do if he has the nasal flu spray and it stings. I would love to try the nasal spray so I would know how it feels and could judge better what I should get for my son, but I am not able to get it as I am in the "high risk" group that can't get it. Which makes me think the shot is safer and makes me nervous about the nasal spray.

So please help me! Let me know what you and your children have had and how it went! Please and thank you!
